|This is really too long to publish! I am a 78 yr. old female and spent most of my time doing acrobats and swimming, tho' now only swim. I live in Casa Grande, AZ and have a pool at my apt. Was a legal sec'ty. for 30 yrs. and also a Psychiatric Technician so had some knowledge of what was happening to me.
This all began w/bites from bird mites and believe I inhaled spores as there are many mourning doves and nests on my apt. complex property and landscapers use large blowers when cleaning and much dust is stirred up. My dr. looked at a few bites on my ankles to rule out Scabies. Just told me to stay away from the birds! He accused me of smoking too much as I had some congestion in bronchi (which is common in Histoplasmosis/Valley Fever) and after checking my nose determined it was allergies. I had also had a PET scan which showed a small nodule on my left lung (also common in Histo/Valley Fever).
I discovered some mites (resemble black pepper spots) on my lower legs. Slept on couch so as not to carry into other rooms and changed and washed bedding and my clothing 3-4 times day/night, showered and shampooed hair several times day and night. Had to do laundry several times day/night. Lack of sleep was debilitating.
Also used my large steamer and removed and steamed couch cushions and also steamed carpet and walls around couch. Used sticky insect papers around couch and caught several black ones. They finally disappeared but it felt as if there was something else crawling on me and in my nose and ears (Eustachian tube). I swabbed my nose w/a Q-tip and saw some microscopic pale white things that would move when examined under my magnifying glass. Used sticky pkg. tape on my body to catch them. After 3-4 months they disappeared. I assumed these were larvae or young ones hatched from the black spots. Also was careful to keep a bucked of water w/Clorox near to dispose of any Q-Tips and Kleenex.
In the beginning, I also boiled water and put Vicks in it and a towel around my head and deeply inhaled. The first time, I could feel something crawling in my throat and vomited several of the black mites. After several steamings, had no more.
Eventually, all presence of the mites disappeared, but discovered they had infected me. Had bubbles in my urine and sputum. Used Listerine to gargle and spit out a lot of bubbles. My nose and ears still itched and swabbed nose w/Q-tips dipped in hydrogen peroxide and inhaled it then put cotton in nose for several minutes. When I looked at the cotton, it contained very shiny, fluorescent particles which could even be seen w/o my magnifying glass. Also had them in my eyes and used eye wash several times a day; also swabbed out eyes w/Q-Tips. The bubbles in my urine reminded me of bubbles in beer (which is yeast) so came to the conclusion I had a yeast infection.
There was also another shocking discovery. I sleep w/o underwear and also in only a cotton dress while at home. While reclined on the couch watching t.v., it felt like (this will sound funny) something was moving in my urethra, like it was "blowing bubbles." (I do not have the yeast infection in my vagina). I wiped the urethra w/a Kleenex and there were those small off-white creatures again. Worried that they would drop off while walking, began wearing Poise mini-pads and also disposing of them in the Clorox solution.
This stage began right around last Xmas and made several calls to my dr. asking him to call, but had not heard anything. Even begged them for an email address so I could let him know my problem, but they would not give me one. Then tried to make an appt. Could not see my doctor for several months but saw his P.A. a month later and brought samples of the mites captured on sticky boards and a urine sample. You could see the bubbles in the urine which remained for several days (if the container was shaken it bubbled as beer would do) and also some white particles. The P.A. would not take the samples I brought and wanted me to get a CAT scan because of the small nodule on my left lung discovered 6 mos. before Did not do so, as my insurance did not pay all.
Wanted a recommendation for a specialist, but dr. never called. They were of no help so have been taking various products from kvhealthlinks.com (Candex, Tanalbit and now Yeast Away). They helped clear up my ears, nose and eyes along w/a diet minus carbohydrates, etc. However, I am now going to try Threelac, Inulin, activated charcoal, etc. I have lost over 20 lbs. and cannot afford to lose more -- you can see every bone in my body and have black circles under eyes. The only other alternative cure for fungus is very harsh and severe. I am immuno-suppressed since I had breast cancer and a mastectomy over 5 yrs. ago and did not take chemo, only Tamoxifen. Do not want to take the anti-fungal meds recommended (which is worse than Chemo and do not want to destroy my body further at my age) as don't think I can tolerate it.
I found some good info at birdmites.org in the beginning, but none about Histo/Valley Fever, etc. So had to figure out on my own. People there should be directed to your site to avoid future problems before it is too late for them, as drs. know nothing about this it seems and will simply treat them for various symptoms, mostly w/antibiotics. It can be life-threatening.
Sorry this is so long, but hope anyone w/bird mite infestation will read this.
