Can anyone shed some light on my hair shed problem?  I used to think it was my thyroid, but I realize this flaking scalp that I've ignored for years must be a scalp fungal infection.  Please help anyone!

Hello

It was not actually a hair loss but a huge worsening of the quality of my hair. For the past 2 years my hair was the most rough thing in the world and now after 21 days of candida diet + supplements the are smooth and silky again.

I did notice also that they stopped growing and I had some hair loss but not a very big one.

If you search the net you will find that hair loss is very common for candida sufferers. I don't know if it is reversable, but I see no reason why not.

Hope things will go better with your hair.

Maria - Louisa

Thanks, I've been trying to find some success stories about it as I've been fixated on hair loss for over 20 years now.  first it was low iron, then I think it was candida, with some hashimotos sprinkled in.... in any case, my thyroid is probably not the cause of my hair loss, and I suspect that when dandruff goes untreated for many years, (as in my case) it can result in worsening hair loss.  It just gets worse!

Anyway, I've had this flaky scalp for so long, it's really wrecked my hair.  My hair is very dry but I don't know if that's from blow drying it everyday.  My hair is thinning from everywhere on my scalp.

dry and rough! exactly my hair. I tried olive oil, extra rich hair mask, extra rich and oily shampoo, eggs. mayo ,avocado NOTHING seemed to work. And that lasted 2 years. and after only 10 days of diet change + supplements my hair is back to normal, very silky and smooth and shiny.

there is this machine they use in wella I think and they tell you about the condition of your hair. they use a micro - camera to enlarge your hair and see the damage. maybe you could visit a hair saloon and see if they can help you. I guess you've already checked your hormones....have you?

Yes, I've searched for years to find out if it's related to my thyroid, but I think it's a yeast fungal infection..... I've had dry flaky scalp for years and never figured out it's probably some sort of infection.

My hair also had thinned when I had my Candida at my worst days.  I have started eating coconut oil, and dry unsweatened coconut.  I put coconut oil in my hair every night before bed.  I started taking A product with Biotin and many other suppliments and the hair loss stopped.

Try using coconut oil on your scalp.  and include in your diet.  It has caprylic acid and is very good for those with candida yeast issues.

You also can add fish oil to your regiment.  Eat fish, like mackeral, salmon, tuna, and sardines.  You may see a difference.

Candida does alot of strange things to people.

I found that the balance of the body ph changes because of candida and the body becomes more acid than it should be (the desirable body ph is alkaline). an acid body causes severe hair loss. google "body ph and candida" and "acid / alkaline diet" and read the info. I think that this might be a solution to the problem. But keep in mind that you may not need to take an alkaline supplement but an acid one (called betaine hcl) cuz candida destroys tha ability of the stomach to produce acid and then the whole body ph balance is disturbed causing the whole body to be more acid than normal, due to underproduction of gastric acid. it is a paradox. consult your therapist but I think it is the solution to hair loss problem. google "acid body symtpoms" and you will see hair loss.
I bought some test strips. they measure the ph balance of the body. I should have 7.5-8.0 ph and I have 6 and that means extremely acid ph. And my nutritionist gave me an acid supplement to help my stomach produce acid and stop making the rest of my body acid.  I tell you, this feels great. My stomach was not digesting, I would find my food in my stools, and now this is over!!! I am digesting, I feel better than ever and I hope my body ph wll soon be alkaline.

This makes sense to me.  My hair loss had stopped a while ago with the change in my diet.  But I was confused.  The diet tells you to stay away from vinegar, and other  things say apple cider vinegar is good.

So I steered away from all vinegar products.  Now I am doing very little, but I decided last night to try to drink the apple cider vinegar and drop of lemon and baking soda in water.  Actually my stomach feels pretty good today.

I also had chosed to nix table salt and use organic redmen salt and sea salt which is not iodized.  I think I may need to get some iodine in my diet.

All the information I am gathering from all these forums and web pages is fantastic. I have the battle half won.  I still am playing the experiments to get my self totally well. But I do believe I am a success story in the making.

I do have my moments, and had sinus headache for three days. Figured it out. I had gone back to eating a small amount of cheese and brown bread because like everyone we are pinching pennies.  It only took 1 week to get my candida sinus infection back that took me a year to get rid of.  But  I  tried the Collidoil Silver and perioxide last night in nazal bottle and today the head ache is GONE.

Thanks for your advice.  I am going to get some test strips today.  Have a wonderful holiday!

You are already a winner since you feel like one. That was the best post I've read in a health forum (and believe me I've read hundreds..)

Thanks guys for the feedback.  I just started a holistic nutrition program at night and I'm learning lots. We haven't discussed candida yet.  I hear that live cell microscopy can detect fungal infections in the blood.   I can't believe I've probably had this candida infection for years but did nothing about it.  A chinese naturopath told me to ignore my flakey scalp! That was 2004, I can't believe I actually believed him.  Flakey scalp should never be ignored.  I'm taking some oil of oregano, allimax and trying to change my diet.  I have yet to buy some ph strips,, (do you test urine?) and yes, I'll try some coconut for a while to see what that does.  I'll try what you guys suggest, can you tell me more about your symptoms?  thanks guys!!!cathy  P.S. I'm also taking a super power multi and some extra zinc.

Hi My symptoms were at first just sinus problems, and gradually over the years I realized they were getting worse and worse each seasons, ear infections, sinus infections, upper respiratory, headaches, migraines, then as the stress of trying to work with what I thought was an on going hand injury that would never heal, matters got worse really fast.  I had no energy, I did not feel good most of time.  My stomach hurt, I had irritable bowels, swollen lymph, sore throats, all of which the doctors kept prescribing more antibiotics, making matters much worse. Bloating, and gas, irritable, eyes funny, eyelids flickering, ringing in my ears,  in the presence of perfume I began to stagger, as if drunk and people thought I was a hypochondriac. I was dizzy and disoriented most of time, confused, and could not concentrate at all. Loud noice and office noise bothered me, lights were too bright to drive at night.  I became confused and razzeled quite easily by noice, hussle and bussle, and not pleasant to be with.  I cried for no reason, and was down alot.  My arms hurt, muscles neck and legs and back.  I was a mess. When I would try to fall asleep the anxiety was so bad I could not relax.  My legs spasms and my feet. My arms and hands tingled. Just as about to fall asleep, it would feel like I was falling and I would hear a slam in my head, it was like a car crash.  I think I had every symptom, with the exception of jock itch because I am female.

I was sent to an allergiest who, kept given me more and more antibiiotics and would not accknowlege that I did not feel good all over, and she felt I was working in a sick building. I had kept notes for quite some time and was convinced that the work place exposed me to mold.  There was no doubt about it.  I was started on immunotherapy, and just got worse and worse.  She put me on leave of absence. During that leave I got worse and worse until I was in bed, could not eat, could not sleep, ringing in my ears, I was paranoid, full of anxiety.  I finally told her I thought I had candida and she said poppycock.

I went home upset through the last perscirption for antibiotics I would ever take down the toilet after I paid $50.00 for it.  I was so sick I do not remember returning back to work. Returned to my doctor and begged him to put me on Diflucan or something for a while and he reluctantaly agreed.  He really wanted to put me on anti depressants, and pain medication for hand.  I stayed on Diflucan for a little while until he thought that I should ween off. I lost 80 bls in 3 months so I was at a total loss of 147 lbs.  Then I did a parasedic cleanse.  I passed a parrasite that was 18 inches long almost.  He had not a clue what I was going through,  and this is when I realized he was a professor of  Internal Medicine was not listening to me, and  just making money handing out geriatric pain medication.  I was done.

With my head in my hand, I searched the internet for answers.  I realized that I had had candida since childhood.  That my mother, died at 54, more than likely a Candida Victim, because her immune system gave up and got cancer.  I realized I was 53 and this would not be happening to me.  I did research, bought books, ask questions.  My FMS symptoms are about 80-90% better, The chiropractor did me wonders.  I just happened to walk off the street into his office as if God had lead me there. Don't even know why but I did. First thing I saw was a very bright red broshure that said CANDIDIASIS in  his waiting room.  I asked him if he knew about Candida.  He told me he had candida.  I started to cry.  He asked me if I had some time to wait for him to finish with his patient that he could see me right away.  I spent 2 1/2 hours with this man, and he changed my life.

Of the 67 symptoms, they listed I had 53, and now I can say the list is about maybe 10 symptoms.  I widdle away at each until I resolve.  I,m sort of stuck in slow gear right now, but needing to learn much more.  It has been a long road and I am still learning something new every day.  I am looking forward to the day where I do not have to think about it so hard.  But for now, I pay attention to my diet and the way I feel. I know that if I do not, I will be sick again, and I never want to be that sick every again.  This forum has already taught me alot.  I am so glad to be a part of it.

Wow, that's quite the story, LJohnson... You've been through alot!!!  We really have to look out for ourselves and not believe what the dumb docs say.  They're only into medications.  Sometimes the naturopaths aren't very good either.  Did you keep the worm?  Wow!  How amazing!  You're a real survivor!

No I didn't keep it.  Just was total shocked by it.  After that things started getting better.  I believe the creature was eating the nutrition I was supposed to be getting and along with Candida I was very sick.  If I hadn't gone on my own, who knows. I only know that the Dr. wasn't with me, and all he wanted was my insurance dollars for tests that all say I was fine.  I was sick as a dog and he was not helping.

I have learned alot, but this forum has really opened my eyes to alot  issues people are suffering from.  I know now that I am not alone, I am not a hypochondract, and  It is not in my head.

If any one out there doughts this is real.   IT IS VERY REAL, and YOU REALLY ARE SICK.   From deep down, pull all your strength together and learn what to do for yourself.  It is very hard right now if you are where I was, but later you will be better.  I promise.

MariaLouisa and LJohnson, thanks for your input.  I'm taking lots of biotin and some oil of oregano and that seems to be helping.  I'm losing much less hair now!!!  Thanks for the info, I'm going to read much more on ph balance.  I just bought some strips!.!:)

I just want you all to know that you are wonderful. I am kind of in shock. I have so many wierd symptoms and now I know they all stem from yeast.  I just signed up tonight and have been reading about all my symptoms in each forum!

My hair is thinning and that lead me to this thread. I will have to buy some books and start this Curing Journey. I am amazed over all the stories,so many similar to mine. I am so glad to have found you.  I will re order the 3lac (my order didn't go thru):?

I have been using Iodine on any rash that appears and then. I also use colloidal silver,  then other times I use povidone from kroger for vaginal symptoms, also listerine which can burn if skin is raw but brings relief instantly. I also use gold bond powder and use a hairdryer to dry all those hard to reach spots.

My hair was getting brittle and dry and just not nice. I have been finding some small places that looked like psoriasis(sp). I am just so relieved because most of this is from the candida.

Tomorrow I will have my coffee black:( and no carbs and icetea with xylitol sweetner

and no cheese :( but if this will help clear up some of this it will be sooo worth it!!

Until the next time I have each of you in my prayers.  Cathy

Sad news to all you guys on this forum, I was diagnosed with cancer just afew weeks ago.... the cancer was removed (in my left breast) it was in the calcifications, in January but now they want to do radical treatments such as rad & chemo.... I'm scared as anything.... my hair is still falling a little and I have yet to grow most of my hair back, but I'm still fighting this candida. the last thing I want to do now is lose my hair from chemo... I have so little of it left anyway.. I believe it's my husband and kids who gave me this sickness....  they cause me so much grief...I don't know if the candida had anything to do with it...

I'm going to go on an anticancer diet and try that,,, I just can't do what they suggest, tamoxifen is so toxic and can cause cancer in the uterus cathy Is anyone having success with oil of oregano?  Please tell me how 3 lac works??? cath

Sorry to hear about the cancer, but if the chemo is necessary to really make sure the beast is held at bay, then I'd do it.

My father died from lung cancer a year and half ago.

My mother has lymphoma and is currently going through chemo (6 treatments).

Hairloss or death?

I think the choice is pretty obvious.

Sorry to read just now that you have cancer. I just became a member and being July I hope since your post in Feb, that you are better. Just had to post and tell you how I cured my breast cancer 8 yrs ago without surgery, chemo or radiation. Google Johanna Budwig and you will be taken to her cure for cancer with basically: ground flaxseed seeds, fresh refrigerated flaxoil blended with cottage cheese, and a big change in the rest of the diet such as, lots of vegetables and fruit all raw if possible, and little or no meat and NO SUGAR as it feeds cancer cells like fertilizer. It worked for me and 4 of my insurance clients who various types of cancer also.

Gods blessings for healing- Mariska

I don't appreciate that kind of response, there are other options other than chemo and radiation.  I'm bright and know alot about cancer.
